How To Roast Garlic In The Oven

Whole roasted garlic cloves are a delicious, roasting changes the sharp flavor of raw garlic into a mellow and savory delight. When garlic cloves are roasted, they become soft, creamy, and subtly sweet.

To prepare whole roasted garlic cloves, start with a whole head of garlic.

  1. Preheat your oven to around 400°F (200°C)
  2. Take a whole head of garlic and remove any loose or excess outer layers of skin, leaving the cloves intact.
  3. Cut off the top portion of the garlic head, while exposing the tips of the individual cloves.
  4. Drizzle a small amount of olive oil over the exposed cloves.
  5. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper over the garlic.
  6. Wrap the entire garlic head loosely in aluminum foil, creating a pouch.
  7. Place the wrapped garlic head on a baking sheet or in a baking dish and transfer it to the preheated oven.
  8. Roast the garlic for approximately 35-45 minutes, or until the cloves become soft and golden brown. The exact roasting time may vary depending on the size of the cloves.
  9. Once roasted, remove the garlic from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes.
  10. To extract the roasted garlic cloves, gently squeeze the base of each clove, and the soft, fragrant flesh will slide out easily.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 12" pizza crust homemade or store bought.
  • 12 oz shredded swiss cheese
  • 2 cups cooked roast beef shredded
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 2 Tbsp fresh chives opptional for garnish
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice fresh squeezed
  • 1 head garlic roasted or minced roasted recommended. However you can just mince the raw garlic and use that instead!
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Grill to medium-high or preheat oven to 450℉ and place a pizza stone (if your using one) into the oven or on the grill to preheat.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • drizzle a medium size skillet with olive oil and cook sliced onions until slightly caramelized.
  • Sprinkle a pizza peel lightly with corn meal to keep your crust from sticking. Place Pizza crust on the peel.
  • Spread garlic aioli over entire surface of crust. Sprinkle shredded swiss and roast beef on top of garlic aioli. Top with caramelized onions.
  • Slide pizza onto your pizza stone and bake for 10-12 minutes or until crust is brown and cheese is melted.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with fresh chopped chives. Enjoy!!
